SJ/C partners with South Carolina Cancer Specialists

June 6, 2012 - Long-time Low Country chemotherapy and infusion practice South Carolina Cancer Specialists has partnered with St. Joseph’s/Candler to bring the latest in medical care to two locations in Hilton Head and Okatie.

The practice will now be called St. Joseph’s/Candler SC Cancer Specialists.

Patients will have the same services but also access to the full range of services provided by the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler and its relationship with the National Cancer Institute's Community Cancer Centers Program.

Dr. Gary Thomas at SC Cancer Specialists has been treating chemotherapy and infusion patients in the Hilton Head area since 1993. This partnership will collaborate on research and follow the guidelines of the National Comprehensive Care Network.

Dr. Thomas is the only board certified Medical Oncologist on Hilton Head Island and completed his training at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University. He will serve as the Medical Director of the new St. Joseph's/Candler SC Cancer Specialists Hilton Head-Okatie.

The SJ/C SC Cancer Specialists will compliment the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion’s Hilton/Head Bluffton Radiation Oncology Center.
